Job Description


START Architecture is looking for a full-time architect for our Calgary studio. We are a close-knit group that works in a highly collaborative environment ensuring a robust execution of our projects. We are looking for that unique individual that will strengthen our team with their knowledge, expertise, and mentoring abilities.

As a key member of our team, you will be involved from design through contract documentation. You will engage with fellow team members in production through a project while mentoring and providing quality control over the development of deliverables. Your communication skills allow you to coordinate and guide clients and consultants through a project's lifespan. You will use your keen knowledge of building science and material research to advise and recommend paths forward for the realization of the project. Your eyes are keen and your attention to detail is enviable to eagles and the most scrutinizing of individuals. You have a strong understanding of construction that can executed through your detailing direction and construction contract administration.

Work Experience and Education:

  • minimum 5 years as a Registered Architect with the AAA
  • minimum 5 years Canadian experience as an Architect in construction project active companies
  • experience in public sector projects, municipal, healthcare, recreation, K-12, post-secondary education and similar
  • demonstrated practical knowledge of complex renovation projects an asset

  • project sub-consultant coordination
  • production of design materials and contract documents; models, renderings, presentations
  • preparation of technical specifications
  • familiarity with the National Building Code-Alberta Edition, and National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings
  • construction and contract administration, site visits, including travel
