The Catholic Parish of Corpus Christi

Edmonton, AB

Project Description

Location: Edmonton, AB

This new Church includes a nave with seating for 1500 parishioners, a hall to accommodate over 300 guests for banquets with a full commercial kitchen, and a two storey office area for administration with space for meeting rooms.

An ample entrance gathering space connects the entrance to all three main areas of this facility (nave, hall and administration).

The Church nave has a 180 degree fan shaped curved pew layout and a prominent cruciform ceiling roof structure.  Directly behind the Sanctuary is the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.  The chapel protrudes like an apse from the exterior elevation facing 34th Street, appearing like a lantern to this main road.  With perpetual adoration planned for the Chapel, the lantern will become a beacon in the community.  The building is monastic in composition and the traditional appearance of the facility is immediately recognizable as a Church.

Corpus Christi is one of only two 1500 seat Churches in the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton.
